Features of teaching Chinese

On the educational program of the HSE St. Petersburg, "Political Science and World Politics", a program in the Chinese language "Second Foreign Language (Chinese)" is implemented, designed for 2 years of study (2 and 3 courses). Certification takes place in the form of an exam and is compulsory for all HSE St. Petersburg students who choose to study in this program.

The purpose of mastering the discipline "Second foreign language (Chinese)" is the mastery of knowledge and competencies in the field of modern Chinese language - oral and written speech, normative grammar and vocabulary in the amount stipulated by this program, which provides conditions for students to achieve a level not lower than HSK3 on the scale Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi International Exam in Chinese (新汉语水平考试 http://www.chinesetest.cn).


In the first year of study, special attention is paid to the phonetic and hieroglyphic aspects. The course includes practical exercises on basic grammar topics and lexical material. The second year of study presupposes a sequential increase in complexity in basic grammatical topics and lexical material, the development and improvement of the language with practical application in communication.
