Abstract

The course is devoted to the theories and models of decision-making process, with the emphasis on political and international processes. The course provides students with the practical skills of the agent-based modeling (ABM) as a simulation method, by which scholars study the behavior and decision-making patterns of individuals. Students will “grow'' artificial versions of real societies that emerge from constantly interacting micro-agents: people and institutions. Students will explore the inner workings of these systems and analyze what happens if one changes the rules of decision-making or introduce political reforms. As an outcome, students will learn how ABM is used for research and evidence-based policymaking.
