Topic of the lecture: When Government Was Good and America was Great

Abstract
: From the end of World War II until 1970, the U.S. experienced an extraordinary period of economic growth and social well-being.  Advances in racial, ethnic, and religious equality, gender equity, environmental protection, educational access marked that quarter century.  An activist federal government was a major reason for these advances.  When the government receded, social progress slowed, the economy stalled, and income inequality grew.  How did this happen, and what can be done to reverse this trend?
