Course Syllabus

Abstract

Medical biotechnology is a discipline that aims to advance the knowledge of engineering, biology and medicine and improve the health of mankind through interdisciplinary developments that combine engineering approaches with the achievements of biomedical science and clinical practice. Medical biotechnology aims to use knowledge and experience to find and solving problems of biology and medicine.

Learning Objectives

  • Formation of systemic knowledge, skills and abilities to obtain substances of medicinal preparations, as well as preventive and diagnostic means by biotechnological methods of synthesis and transformation, as well as a combination of biological and chemical methods.
Expected Learning Outcomes

Expected Learning Outcomes

  • Knows the basic regulatory documentation on standardization, production, quality control and environmental safety of medicines obtained by biotechnological methods.
  • Knows the modern achievements of fundamental biological sciences and biomedical technologies, sources and methods for obtaining biotechnological substances, their physical and chemical properties, innovative ways to create drugs based on the use of genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics data.
  • Is able to evaluate the methods used in production and in the laboratory for working with recombinant strains.
  • Is able to solve specific problems in the field of technology for obtaining biologically active compounds.

    The exam is conducted in the form of answers to the questions of the examination ticket and additional questions on the course materials. The examination paper contains two questions. You have 40 minutes to prepare your answer.
