Course Syllabus

Abstract

The discipline covers the important aspects of analytics communication and data visualization in the success of any companies nowadays. Modules of the course comprise communication’ strategy and tools, the origins, techniques and best practices of data visualization as well as the fundamental topics and key concepts of public speaking. Fundamentally, the key learning outcomes of the course refer to understanding efficient ways to convey information to the target audience.

Course Contents

Course Contents

  • Data Visualization
    This topic starts with a brief history of the Data Visualization, since the Early Maps and Diagrams to the current situation. Moreover, the three general principles of Data Visualization are explained as well as some digital tools are presented. Furthermore, the basic use of Tableau Public is taught
  • Analytics Communication
    This topic comprises the key concept and initial points of Analytics Communication as well as the main principles of how drive intelligence through an efficiently communication plan. The SELLING framework is also explained.
  • Public Speaking
    The concept and the common mistakes of public speaking are firstly presented. Moreover, the importance to share something significant – not only bringing a ‘nice’ presentation – is remarked. Storytelling, explanation’ ways and prior preparation are also explained
  • Academic Presentation
    This topic covers how to make, prepare and deliver academic speeches, such as Dissertation and Thesis defenses as well as Conferences’ presentations
